The Austin BLACKMIC is made in the USA.
Internal parts are purchased locally, and machined by small companies and local job shops. BLACKMIC competes favorably against well-known, mass-produced, high-end ribbon microphones whose parts are largely made in China.
 
Austin Mics supports our local economy. USA, Baby!!
We purchase raw materials locally from a local industrial metal wholesaler.
Two local machine shops make our internal components, mill our microphone bodies, and powder-coat the enclosure.
Our Austin OTA-2 transformer is custom-wound for us in Dallas, TX.
Our parts are cut to length and bagged-up by real people in San Diego, CA.
 
Full Transparency: Our Neodymium magnets come from Canada. The Ribbon Foil is hand-pounded in Japan, then cut, corrugated and installed in the Austin Mics shop. The small steel screws are purchased through USA wholesaler McMaster Carr, who source them from various overseas manufacturers. There aren't many USA metric screw manufacturers anymore.
