Rick Wilkinson
If you have a tube amp or microphone that's not working properly, chances are I can repair it to proper working condition.
My name is Rick, and I'm an inventor and electronic designer/engineer. I own and operate Austin Ribbon Mics in San Diego, CA.
Because I design and make DIY microphone kits, mic preamps, guitar pedals, high-voltage tube amps and tube reverb tanks, I understand how they work...and how to repair them when they stop working.

Hi-fi power amplifiers (tube and solid state)
I have repaired dozens of vintage Ribbon Microphones, Fender & Gibson tube amps, Matamp reverb tanks, solid state hi-fi monoblock amplifiers, and high-quality microphones. I use vintage parts if available, and appropriate, for the repair.
My bench fee is $50 for an assessment, which covers my time to inspect, test, and diagnose the issues. That $50 gets you a repair proposal, which includes parts, labor, and a repair time frame. If I fix the problem in that first hour, and $50 is the total charge.
Most repairs on tube amps and microphones run between $100 and $150, dependent on what parts need to be repaired. But I can't quote exact prices until I know what the problem is and what parts are needed. Also, there are some things that are just not repairable due to part obsolescence.
If you have more than one item, I'll often waive the bench fee for additional items, depending on how many you've got and what they are. When you're nice to me, I'll return the favor.
After you give the go-ahead for repai, I begin work ASAP. When parts arrive, I usually finish in under a week. There are no three-month stays...I repair equipment, not collect it.
If you have a piece of electronic audio equipment in need of repair, complete this form and we'll get the discussion started.
